Wildlife

The Summer House is located in a rural area in the north of Kefalonia and you will inhabit the island during your stay with a diverse variety of the native wildlife. Most evenings you will hear the Scops owl "mewing" over the hillside - you may be lucky enough to catch a quick glimpse. Other insects or animals that you could encounter during your stay are pine martins and tree rats; tortoises; hedgehogs; wild quail; the local friendly jays; praying mantis; a selection of geckos and lizards; moths etc. Of course, being in a warm climate, everyone's holiday enemies, the wasps and mosquitoes are always present - so come prepared with your sprays and creams!
