Fiscardo is a wonderfully picturesque Venetian harbour village at the north of the Erissos peninsular. Home during the winter months to a small number of all year round residents, mainly made up of the local fishermen; in the summer it becomes the height of chic comparable to anywhere on the Mediterranean.

The pretty pastel coloured shops dot the harbour side and the lanes and alleys that run from it. Fish restaurants, tavernas and bars are alive with the friendliest of Greek welcomes. The harbour fills with some of the world’s most luxurious yachts and many a day or evening can be spent just watching people.

Fiscardo has been called the “St. Tropez of Greece” and not without good reason. The individual boutique shops that make up the harbour side make the village truly memorable and at the height of the summer it becomes a magnet for the rich and famous.

The evenings are the best time to enjoy Fiscardo at its finest and the town enjoys a particularly unique Mediterranean atmosphere that you will not find anywhere else on Kefalonia. The residents of Fiscardo will often disappear during the day, venturing out to the beautiful local beaches or visiting the other sites Kefalonia has to offer. Indeed there are a couple of pretty beaches within easy walking distance of Fiscardo.

The view from Fiscardo looks out to the island of Ithaca and motor boats can be hired from the harbour enabling you to visit; or you could simply to head along the coast in search of secluded beaches not accessible by car.

For those in search of a little more lively evening entertainment, Fiscardo has one small nightclub set slightly out of town. This is only open during the peak season and actual opening dates vary from year to year.

Fiscardo offers the best in laid back sophistication and is ideally suited for couples and families of all ages looking to “get away from it”. Indeed, if you are a family with younger children you should not be put off. Children are welcomed with open arms in all of the restaurants and it is a way of life in Greece that it is expected they should be with you when you dine out.
